Overview

Portraiture at the Heart
Brian Maguire and Cheryl Horn, advocate
Moderated by Gemma Tipton
3pm

Missoula Art Museum commissioned Brian Maguire to create the exhibition Outrage: Missing and Murdered Indigenous People in Montana, which opened in 2025. Across a five-year process, Brian connected with families and worked with advocates like Cheryl Horn, a member of the Nakota-Aaniiih and a citizen of the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation, to create art that would honor both the disappeared and their families.

Join the artist and Cheryl Horn in conversation, led by Irish Times journalist Gemma Tipton, about the process of engagement Maguire undertook, the effect on the families involved, and the artist’s responsibilities where there is a potent promise of celebration and awareness, springing from a place of memory and grief.

The Life of Brian (Maguire)
Film screening and talkback with director Mark McLoughlin and artist Brian Maguire
Moderated by Gemma Tipton
5:30pm

The Life of Brian (Maguire) is a powerful new documentary that explores the extraordinary life and work of acclaimed Irish artist and social activist Brian Maguire. Directed by Mark McLoughlin, this 50-minute film follows Maguire’s journey as he uses his art to spotlight global injustices and challenge dominant narratives. Internationally renowned for this raw, politically charged work, Maguire’s commitment to truth and justice has taken his work to the UN headquarters in New York and the European Parliament, further solidifying his role at the forefront of the international art world. His art is not only a reflection of his life experiences but also a call to action.
